What a fun time! Friday afternoon, we left for Tulare. Bob had a Military Officers Meeting there on Saturday. Friday night was dinner at Apple Annie’s a restaurant I always wanted to eat at in honor of our Yorkie, Annie. It was a lot like her…..bigger than life, noisy, and full of bustling energy. On Saturday, while Bob and the other husbands were meeting, the wives headed for the outlet mall and a shopping spree. I can’t believe how much I bought, but I know I was the winner of the “Who Can Spend the Most” award. I just kept finding things that aren’t available in our small town. Saturday night we all met at the Everton, an excellent restaurant for a delicious meal and lots of good comradery. What a great group of friends. I always enjoy our times together. It was a non-eventful drive home on Sunday. (Guess non-eventful is good when one is on the road.). Here are some photos from our Saturday night dinner. Remember to click on them for enlargement.

Dick and Vicki will move into their new home on Wednesday. This has been a long process, but from the photos, I think it was well worth the wait. Last April while we were in Washington D.C., Bob and I spent a day with them in Reston, Virginia. They were just about to put their condiminium on the market and had all ready purchased the lot for the new house. I thought family and friends would like to see it so I am posting these two photos. What a great place for retirement or at least semi-retirement.

There is nothing that makes me happier than photos of my granddaughter. I chose a few from an album that my daughter, Dawn emailed me earlier this week and which I found waiting for me on my return to Ridgecrest and my own computer.
These words accompanied the album “CHEER UP MOM. Just look at your grandchild. This was a toilet paper (every roll in the house) and my favorite lipstick on rose petals, stuck on her body weekend. Just look at all the clean up you missed. Actually, I did think the covering of Tinkerbelle with toilet paper was cute.”
Well, I do love the photos and the crafty talent of Jade and of course, I think her art work is far above that of the average five year old. I mean just look at the faces on the toilet roll people! And what could be more creative than rose petals and lipstick? I am sure that by the time Dawn finished the clean-up, the last was her favorite photo. Such a sweet sleeping child!
Makes me wish I could be there to deliver a butterfly kiss on those beautiful red cheeks. Thank you Dawn for a lot of sunshine on another California dreary, rainy day.
The rains continue here in California and with it a low down blues feeling for everyone. Just heard on the TV that on this evenings news there will be a discussion of the rain and how it could cause depression in our pets. Well, let me assure you, Annie and Sammi are not depressed. Since we were stuck in our RV in the rain, in Lancaster, in the driveway of Bob’s house waiting for the Salvation Army to pick up unneeded furniture and household goods all day yesterday, I found that I could control my cabin fever by walking. So that’s what we did. We tramped up and done the street, around the block, down to the corner with the traffic lights and back to the RV for treats. Salvation Army came and went during a time the sun was almost shining. Today, we came back to Ridgecrest and tonight there will be a fire in the fireplace and home-made chili for dinner in the living room. Just thinking of it raises my spirits.

Oh my, the storm is here again and it is raining with vengeance…actually it poured down most of the night. Dave cancelled out (wisely) to coming up to pick up the Korean trunk and tea cart for his mother which also means he will not be here to help his grandfather move heavy things in the garage in preparation for Salvation Army’s pick-up tomorrow. Well, maybe since it is supposed to still rain tomorrow maybe they will cancel too. My patience with California’s weather is wearing thin.
