Procrastination No More

Filed under: Family and Friends — Maria @ 8:00 am

Procrastination is a Witch with a capital B. I have safely downloaded all of my posts, comments, and albums from my Weblog. Procrastinator that I am, I had not saved anything from my blog in the past three years. Some lessons are hard-learned and I will not let this happen again.

I am still in the process of trying to save the website format, but I have put all the technical aspects into Bob’s capable hands. However once the site is secure, I will take over and learn to do it on my own. I think Gloria would like that.

There will not be a funeral for Gloria just a small private service for family. Her friend Elaine, will scatter her ashes in the many scenic areas that Gloria loved. So a door closes, memories linger, and life goes on.

But enough about posts, albums, and funerals. The sun is shining . The morning air is crisp. The mourning doves are cooing outside my window and I feel the numbness leaving my soul.

Loss of a Friend

Filed under: Family and Friends — Maria @ 6:59 am

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I announce the death of my dear friend and the webmaster for this site, Gloria C.

It is painful to lose a friend of 25 years and to lose a confident with as much inisght, fortitude, and compassion . I have not only lost a good friend, but a spiritual guide as well. On so many occasions, Gloria has set me back on my path and given me the guidance and encouragement to think for myself.

She was one of the most talented people I know. Gloria was an artist, a writer, and a webmaster of great skill. She has designed award winning sites and will be greatly missed. She fought hard against the cancer that invaded her body and she conquered it, only to succumb to problems more than likely caused by a system weakened by Chemo-therapy.

.
I will not be posting for awhile for technical reasons. I am unable to break the code for my Weblog to find the necessary billing information or how to pay the host server. Since I never backed up my files, I need to spend the next week downloading all my writings and photos to a safe place.

Lucky’s Prayer

Filed under: The Menagerie — Maria @ 10:08 am

The puppies have come through their spay and neuter experience in good health. They were very groggy when we picked them up in the late afternoon, and ate only a little at dinner time. At about 1:00 in the morning, both were hungry and had another meal. . . this one considerably larger.

Lucky has one of those awful collars and is not ready to accept the problems that go with it. He can’t go out the doggie door and he can’t drink water out of the large bowl. I think the collar bothers him much more than the actual neutering. The vet said he needs to wear it for 10 -14 days. That seems like a very long time to me so I think after seven days, I will take him back to the vet for an evaluation.

LuAnn on the other hand, is doing extremely well and outside of the poodle-style haircut on her left leg where they shaved her mid-leg for an intravenous hook-up and a small bald spot on her chest where they drew blood, she almost looks back to normal. Both puppies have five days of pain medication and by the time the five days are up, I believe they will be well on their way to feeling no pain.

Someone sent me God and the Dog in an email a while back. I tucked it away for the right occasion and I think now is a good time to include it in a post. The last question is one I am certain Lucky would ask, if he could.

Dear God: Why do humans smell the flowers,
but seldom, if ever, smell one another?

Dear God: Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are,
will I have to apologize?

Dear God: When we get to heaven, can we sit on your couch? Or
is it still the same old story?

Dear God: If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human
hears him, is he still a bad dog?

Dear God: Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar,
the mustang, the colt, the stingray, and the rabbit, but not ONE
named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around?
We do love a nice ride!

Dear God: We dogs can understand human verbal instructions,
hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID’s,
electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do
humans understand?

Would it be so hard to rename the “Chrysler Eagle” the ” Chrysler
Beagle”?

Dear God: More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.

Dear God: Let me give you a list of just some of the things I must
remember to be a good dog

1.I will not eat the cats’ food before they eat it or after they
throw it up.

2. I will not roll on dead seagulls, fish, crabs, etc., just because I like the way they smell.

3. I will not munch on “leftovers” in the kitty litter box, although
they are tasty.

4. The diaper pail is not a cookie jar. 5. The sofa is not a ‘face towel’. Neither are Mom and Dad’s laps.

6. The garbage collector is not stealing our stuff.

7. My head does not belong in the refrigerator.

8. I will not bite the officer’s hand when he reaches in for Mom’s
driver’s license and registration.

I will not play tug-of-war with Dad’s underwear when he’s on the
toilet.

10. Sticking my nose into someone’s crotch is an unacceptable
way of saying “hello”.

11. I don’t need to suddenly stand straight up when I’m under the
coffee table.

12. I must shake the rainwater out of my fur before entering the
house - not after.

13. I will not throw up in the car.

14. I will not come in from outside and immediately drag my butt.

15. I will not sit in the middle of the living room and lick my crotch
when we have company.

16. The cat is not a ’squeaky toy’ so when I play with him and he
makes that noise, it’s usually not a good thing.

And, finally, My last question . . .

Dear God:

When I get to Heaven

may I have my testicles back?
