Oscar Night Party

Just returned from a wonderful weekend with family in Palmdale. My daughter Dawn and grand daughter Jade came from Oregon for a visit. So it was a week-end to celebrate and Kristi and Theresa were outstanding hosts.

However, the Oscar Night Party was Dawn and my idea and I do believe we gave a whole new meaning to the term “On the Red Carpet” as you will see in the slide show below. I put it together when Bob and I returned to Ridgecrest yesterday.

While Papa worked on his computer and the others headed off for roller coaster riding at Magic Mountain, Dawn and I headed to Trader Joe’s for munchies and Party City for Hollywood style decorations.

The thrill riders had promised to be home in time to watch the Oscar Award Show and we conspired to give them an Oscar party to remember. Party City was well-stocked with Hollywood style items and Dawn and I found everything we needed. This included a dozen hellium balloons which were a challenge to fit into the car for the ride home as well as a very sexy feather boa, various style hats, and table decorations.

Quickly we found cheese, crackers, and sparkling grape juice at Trader Joe’s and rushed home to set up our party. Papa Bob came in from the RV and helped us with the setting up. Then Dawn and I put down the red carpet, breathed our sighs of relief and photographed the festive-looking room. When we realized our buddies were still on the freeway coming home, we entertained ourselves by taking photos on the red carpet.

Before long everyone was back and walking the red carpet. The cameras clicked, the people smiled, the children posed, and everyone hammed it up.

While viewing the Academy Awards on the TV, we munched on crackers and cheese, and toasted family with sparkling grape juice. It was not too long before Papa and Nana, old folks that we are becoming, found the hour late, the Award Ceremony nearing completion, and our beds out in the RV calling. We excused ourselves, hugged everyone, and ended our evening of frivolity with a smile of contentment.

As Bob would say, we made a monument to memory!
